The release VOGUE's September Issue signals a "change in the weather" of sorts in the fashion world. The minute that beautiful bible of fashion arrives in our mailbox, we know it's time to trade our bikinis for Birkins and our cut-offs for cashmere. It's an exciting time for laying luxe fabrics and experimenting with new shapes. This fall seems particularly alluring due to the wide range of options and looks that have been filling the runways.

PRADA

One major look we saw this season was the return to 1950's glamour. Prada showed us an almost futuristic Tippi Hedren complete with beehive hair and cable knit turtlenecks paired with leather pencil skirts. The look was wearable, yet edgy at the same time making it perfect for the working woman who wants to add a little wit into her closet.

Runway to Real Life: Be sure to incorporate interesting fabric combination's into your look. Don't be afraid to pair leather with tweed. Play with the idea of timeless shapes with modern designs and color options. This will give you a look that's unique, yet still incredibly wearable.

DOLE & GABBANA

In classic Dolce and Gabbana fashion, the boys didn't shy away from body baring silhouettes just because it's fall. Lace and velvet adorned the leggy models who sashayed down the runway. Of course no Dolce & Gabbana show would be complete without their signature leopard print woven in throughout the looks. It was also refreshing to see the lingerie trend that was so present during spring stay with us a little longer.

Runway to Real Life: It's important to make sure you don't take this look too literal. You don't want to end up looking like Brooke Shields in Pretty Baby. The key to pulling off a Dolce & Gabbana inspired look is all in the layering. Use your favorite lacy bra to add a little bit of sex appeal when it peeks out under a v-neck sweater. Feel free to also experiment with velvet, it can add a touch of luxury to any look.

BURBERRY

Perhaps the most influential trend this Fall is the Military look. Designer Christopher Baily at Burberry Prorsum did an exquisite job of making the military jacket look cool and chic. Knee-high boots were paired with lace frocks with structured jackets on top. Going along with the military theme, army green was also used throughout the entire collection, proving to be the perfect alternative to black.

Runway to Real Life: This look is perhaps the most simple to replicate. Military pieces seem to be popping up everywhere from H&M to Target. Some brands are even re-mastering vintage army jackets and making them new again. To keep the trend current, be sure to always wear your military pieces with feminine counterparts such as dresses or skirts.

CAROLINA HERRERA

If forest green is the new black, Carolina Herrera proved red is giving it a run for it's money. Her runway show was filled with the "get noticed" hue. Red adorned the collars of her beautifully tailored coats and complimented her black velvet dresses perfectly. Besides the color scheme, Carolina also showed us some great menswear style looks that we can all appreciate. From fitted vests to billowy trousers, it was a wardrobe even Annie Hall would covet.

Runway to Real Life: Adding red to your look can really make an outfit pop. Try cinching your waist with an oversized red belt or perhaps carrying a patent maroon bag to make a little black dress stand out of the crowd. You may also want to play with men's inspired pieces to pair with more feminine separates for a modern feel.

VOGUE's Anna Wintour and fashion designer Marc Jacobs were interviewed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. The reason? To talk about next Friday's Fashion's Night Out in New York City. It's the only night of the year when fashion designers, models and editors alike join together to, well, shop. Hundreds of retailers band together to help support the fashion industry with street parties and live performances from the likes of Lady Gaga.

Can't make it to FNO? You can still snag a Fashion's Night Out tee to support your favorite designers and help support a good cause. Forty percent of the t-shirt proceeds go to the New York City AIDS Fund. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the big event. But if any of you see Anna, tell her I say "hi" and that I would never be late when meeting her for lunch.

ReFashion Your Mind

Some of you may remember reading my post, The Minimalist: How to Shop Smart, last month. I was thrilled with the unexpected feedback from readers from all over the world. It seems I'm not the only one intrigued by the concept of "conscious shopping".

Soon after the post was published, I received an email from Michelle, a Production Manager at a marketing firm in Perth, Australia. She contacted me after reading the post, explaining that she had been so inspired by the article that she decided to to create her own "anti-shopping" experiment with eleven ladies in her office. They properly dubbed the experiment The Refashion Challenge. The ladies documented the challenge on their blog baring an equally creative name, Men Don't Get it.

The rules seemed simple; choose six articles of clothing from your existing wardrobe and wear only those pieces for an entire month. Their reasoning? To save money, to be more environmentally friendly and to prove to their husbands/boyfriends/themselves that they didn't need to wear something different everyday just to be considered fashionably acceptable.

The ladies likened the challenge to a "fashion diet" or "Survivor Amazon for fashionistas" and halfway through week one, their musings became reality. They soon grew tired of the black they had chosen for their "six" and were tempted daily by the need to express themselves with color.

One participant, Kat, said she just couldn't stand one more day of being dressed in head to toe black. She later became the first challenge "dropout". "I was feeling really depressed about wearing black (or really dark clothes) every day. In fact my first outfit after the challenge was a white top and blue jeans! I had to break free!", she exclaims.

After two weeks and three additional dropouts later, the remaining ladies refused to give up. They stayed positive and even learned a thing or two about themselves in the process. Michelle learned to give herself permission to wear the same look twice in one week. "I am 41 and never in my life have I repeated clothes within the same week. I think this stems from going to a pretty snooty highscool where what you wore was more important than your good grades!", she says.

The other ladies said they learned to be more creative with accessories while others were relieved that they didn't have to choose a new outfit every morning. These ladies are truly courageous fashionistas who rejected social stereotypes to prove that there is more to life then just clothes and shopping.

The Beauty Box: The Price is Right

While I love a $100 jar of Creme de la Mer as much as the next gal, I also enjoy a steal when it comes to my beauty buys. There's just something about wondering through the isles of your favorite drugstore (I love Bushard's in Laguna Beach) that makes you feel like your on a treasure hunt. There are no annoying sales girls to bother you and no pricey jars of miracle cream to avoid. It's just you and your favorite CoverGirl mascara or whatever else tickles your fancy.

Here is a list of some of my favorite beauty steals and how I use them. I hope you'll think of me the next time your stocking up at your nearest CVS.

CoverGirl Great Lash Mascara, $4.99

I am not alone when I say that this is probably my favorite drugstore beauty buy. This tried and true formula in the neon pink and green tube makes your lashes long and luscious. I apply mine right after I curl my lashes for an instant eye "pick-me-up".

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, $4.25

This mineral based powder is just as good (if not better) than most expensive counter parts I've tired. The application is smooth and also provides excellent coverage at an excellent price. I like to apply mine with a large powder brush right after my concealer for a matte look that lasts all day.

Clairol Perfect 10 Hair Color, $11.99

Perfect 10 Hair ColorAfter years of having my hair colored professionally, I was recommended this hair color by a hair stylist friend of mine. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. However, after trying this at-home color for myself, I was hooked! It really does work in just 10 minutes and delivers a lasting salon-like color.

Alba Aloe and Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer, $17.99

If I had an award to give to the best oil-free moisturizer from drugstore, this would most definitely win. I love the fact that it's organic and feels silky smooth on the skin. The green tea infuses your skin with antioxidants while the aloe soothes. I apply a small amount right after cleansing and right before I apply makeup.

What's Your Bridal Style?

For most women, their wedding day is the most important event in their lives. They dream of the perfect princess gown, the perfect wedding cake and the perfect groom. However, if you are planning a wedding, know someone who's planning a wedding, or have watched someone plan a wedding, you know it's never as simple as it seems.

My fiancé and I will be tying the knot two weeks from today and I happen to know full well the trials and tribulations a bride must endure in order for her wedding day to be "perfect". Even as a Fashion Stylist and a professional shopper, these last eight months have been the most stressful months of my entire life. Maybe it's because I have never wanted a huge white ball gown (I'm more of a LBD kind of gal), I don't really like cake (ok, maybe if it's chocolate), and I already have the man of my dreams. So, what's a non-traditional bride to do in a wedding obsessed world? Get creative.

Below I have included three very different bridal styles for the gal who never pictured herself wearing a big poofy dress or dancing to "At Last" on her big day (I still love you Etta James).

1. Fancy Fashionista

The "Fancy Fashionista" Bride refuses to forsake her uncanny sense of style just because it's her wedding day. In fact, she thinks her walk down the isle should be her personal runway show! With a short, cocktail-style sheath and red Louboutin heels, this bride is all about showing off her personal style on her big day.

2. Vintage Vanity
The "Vintage Vanity" bridal style is close to my heart because it most resembles my own personal wedding style. This Bride would choose to wear her Grandmother's vintage bracelet over new jewels any day and her statement piece is her birdcage wedding veil. She flawlessly combines "something old" with something new.

3. Color Me Bold

It is becoming more and more popular to trade the traditional white wedding gown for a more colorful option. The "Color Me Bold" Bride does not shy away from color when tying the knot and believes she should celebrate her big day with festive hues. This bridal style is not for the timid, but is ideal for the bride who is never afraid to show her true colors.

The Minimalist: How to Shop Smart

Why do we as woman find it so incredibly hard not to buy new clothes? Why have we accepted the idea that we need to buy something new every time we have a special event or when we're just plain bored? Why do we think people care so much about what we wear or how we look? These are the questions that a few brave bloggers asked themselves when they created the website, Six Items or Less. The Six Items or Less experiment is based on a seemingly simple concept, choose six items of clothing from your closet and wear only those six items for 90 days. Sounds simple enough right?

For the bloggers who are participating in the experiment, the project is anything but simple. One participant writes about her struggles to not spend any money on new clothes and is confronted with a self-diagnosed "shopping addiction". Another blogger says that she is convinced the project is causing her to gain weight because she feels she is too"bored" with her wardrobe to workout. And still another complains that he can't clean his "six" fast enough and has been forced to wash them in a hotel sink just so he doesn't have to go naked. Who knew clothes could cause such mental and social grief?

Each person participating in the experiment is doing so for different reasons. Some to save money, some to save the environment, some to become more conscious of how much time and energy they spend on shopping on clothes and some because they are sick and tired of having to figure out what they are going to wear each morning. I find all these reasons commendable and relevant.

As for myself, I can honestly say that there was a time when I would buy what I wanted, when I wanted, why I wanted. I filled my closet weekly with new items, never pausing to ask myself, if I had anything like it in my wardrobe already? What would I wear with it? Or do I really need it? Of course I didn't need it, but I wanted it. Wasn't that enough?

After the economy crashed in early 2008, so did my shopping habits. I would never say I was an impulsive shopper and I would certainly never identify myself as a "shopaholic", but I did have a closet full of clothing I had forgotten I even bought and pieces that I may have worn once, if at all. I look back on that time in my life now and shake my head. However, there are still those key investment pieces that I still wear and appreciate today. These are the pieces that have become my fabulous fashion friends. They are there for me whenever I need them. They instantly make me look chic and put together.

You may find these shopping "confessions" odd coming from a Personal Shopper who spends other people's money for a living. However, I have always advised my clients to only purchase pieces that they know they will wear and love for years to come. It's easy to find a cute top or a cheapy costume bracelet, but it's a rare and special occasion when you find that perfect handbag or fitted blazer.

The Six Items or Less experiment proves that wearing the same six pieces for 90 days can be extremely challenging for some, but extremely liberating for others. When you're banned from mindless spending, you are forced to be creative with what you've got. You also learn that people don't care as much about what you wear as you may think they do. To help you cut down on shopping binges and impulse buys, I find it helpful to ask these five questions when making a clothing/accessory purchase:

1. Do I already own something similar to this?

2. What other items would I wear with this piece?

3. Is this in my budget?

4. Will this piece transition from season to season? Or from day to night?

5. Will I be able to wear this piece five, ten or even twenty years from now?

When you stop to ask yourself these five important questions, you will begin to build a wardrobe full of pieces that you really love and not just pieces you kind of like.

Sweet Jane

Jane Birkin is one of those actresses that you just can't stop watching. There is something about her effortless French style that makes her stand out from all those blond bombshells of the 1960's. Jane was thin, perhaps even a bit frail. She wore mini skirts and sheer dresses, yet she never looked a bit vulgar. Her iconic haircut became the style of the decade and her love affair with singer/director Serge Gainsbourg made her famous worldwide.

Jane will forever be one of my favorite style influences. Her look is simple, yet incredibly complex. She made a sheath dress and a bit of mascara look unforgettably chic on and off the silver screen.

Move over boys, the ladies are taking over the music scene. Not only are they known for their killer vocals, but the new breed of female singer/songwriters are also being recognized for their unmistakable sense of style and stage presence. Rock queens like Karen O. of the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and pop iocns like Lady Gaga are on the top of the music charts and best dressed lists around the world.

Here are just a few of my favorite music mavens who mix sound and style flawlessly.

1. Lily Allen

Lily Allen grew up in the UK listening to punk and reggae courtesy of her parents old record collections. The 21 year old singer/songwriter is now known worldwide for her sweet voice and naughty lyrics. Her songs are anything but shy and the same can be said about her personal style. Karl Lagerfeld loved her so much that he asked her to preform at one of the Chanel runways shows last year. Some of her best tunes include "22", 'Him", "Alfie" and "Smile".

2. Karen O.

Karen O. is the lead singer of the band known as the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. Karen's on-stage persona is almost supernatural. With skintight, glow-in-the-dark costumes and her signature black bob, Karen has made a career out of looking cool. The LA native may be a frantic ball of energy on stage, but swears she is reserved in '"real life". The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs are best known for their songs "M.A.P.S", "Zero", "Heads will Roll" and "Dull Life".

3. Jenny Lewis

Jenny Lewis is the lead singer for indie-pop group, Rilo Kiley. She now has two solo albums and an acting career. The fiery redhead was born in Las Vegas, NV and is now recognized for her vintage inspired style and bluegrass-like vocals. Lewis has teamed up with music greats such as Connor Oberst of Bright Eyes, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and The Watson Twins with whom she created the album titled, "Jenny and the Watson Twins". Jenny's versatile voice always sounds fresh and current with hit songs like "Rabbit Fur Coat", "You Are What You Love" and "Jack Killed Mom".

4. Lady Gaga

Inspired by glam rock icons such as David Bowie and Queen, Lady Gaga is all about the fame and the fashion. Her two albums, "The Fame" and "The Fame Monster" are at the top of Billboard charts everywhere and are being played in every night club from here to Tokyo. Her outlandish get-ups and Michael Jackson inspired dance moves made her an instant pop-culture icon. In her music video for her hit single, "Bad Romance", she wore costumes designed by the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Gaga's hit song titles include "The Fame", "Telephone", "Poker Face" and "Just Dance".

5. Regina Spector

Regina Spector was born in Moscow, USSR in 1980. Spector's first big music break came when she opened for The Strokes' "Room on Fire" tour in early 2003. Her unmistakable songwriting style has been compared to that of Bob Dylan and her unique looks are reminiscent of a young girl born in the 1930's. Regina's voice breaks all conventional standards in songs like "Samson", "Better", "Two Birds" and "Us".

The first time I laid eyes on Carrie Bradshaw she was typing at her Mac laptop wearing a silk scarf on her head, short shorts and a cigarette in hand. I didn't quite understand why she looked so amazing or why I suddenly felt the urge to purchase a Pucci scarf and take up smoking, but I knew her look perfectly personified New York City style.

From that episode on, I was hooked on Sex in the City. I became obsessed with Carrie's Manolo collection and the wildly chic outfits her three best friends would be wear each week. The fabulous foursome looked great together, but somehow their looks were always uniquely their own.

Miranda was the conservative lawyer who looked professionally put together in Lanvin sheath dresses and pointed pumps. Charlotte was the upstate socialite who looked perfect in pretty party dresses by Oscar de la Renta. Samantha was my personal favorite in sexy suits with a man on her arm as her stand-out accessory. And Carrie was the fearless fashion hero who mixed designer looks with vintage jewelry.

I can't wait to see "the girls" again this May when the Sex and the City 2 movie premires. It is sure to be a fashion sensory overload set in my favorite city in the world.

Miss Mae Loves: Love Birds

I have always had a special love for birds. Somehow, whenever I see a one in flight, it gives me a sense of peace. I even have a sparrow tattooed on my left hip and if you were to look inside my jewelry box you would find an assortment of bird necklaces and feather headbands.

Next to my beloved sparrow, my favorite bird would have to be the peacock. I think it's quite ironic that the male peacocks are always the most "attractive" and happen to have the brightest colored feathers. It's about time the boys did some of the work, wouldn't you agree? Peacock feathers will be the theme of my wedding this summer. The bridesmaids will be wearing various shades of purple and peacock feathers will serve as the centerpieces.

Peacocks have also become a huge fashion statement as of late. I adore House of Harlow's line of exquisite peacock inspired pieces this season and I am completely head over heels for this clutch from Etsy seller, Red Ruby Rose. The vibrant colors found in this fancy birds feathers have also influenced designers' color palettes for spring. You will be seeing a lot of deep purples, navy blues and metallic gold in everything from dresses to heels.

They may say "birds of a feather flock together", but I say the peacock is in a league all it's own.

Thick as Thieves

I've been forever obsessed with the look of the 1920's. While others were riding bikes or bugging their little brothers, my childhood friend and I were indoors (trying) to copy Erte's art deco beauties. It may be my dark hair and pale skin or perhaps it's all the vintage jewelery covering my vanity, but people have always associated my style with the 1920's era.

One of my favorite pieces in my closet is a vintage bracelet my Grandmother wore to her prom when she was 16. She gave it to me for my 8th grade graduation and I will be wearing it on my wedding day as my "something old" treasure. Even though it's simply costume jewelery, it's so special to me not only because of the sentimental value, but also due to fact that it looks like it might have been worn by Clara Bow.

As some of you may know, my high school sweetheart and I are getting married this summer. My ridiculously talented sister, Emma, took our engagement photos at the San Juan Capistrano Mission in California last weekend. The setting was perfect for a romantic photo shoot, but my sister's amazing ability to make everyone look amazing didn't hurt either.

All my looks came from onQueStyle, the designer consignment boutique for which I work as the Creative Director. All of the shoes are from my own (rather large) shoe collection and my ring is a vintage cut with nine diamonds set in the center. I wanted to be true to my personal style which is classic femininity while still being a bit fashion forward.

The red carpet is the runway of Hollywood. It’s the time for stars to celebrate their work and the work of their piers while looking as fabulous as possible. The trends on Oscar night set the stage for fashion for the rest of year and last Sunday's 82nd Academy Awards were no exception.

Here is my take on the best looks of the night from Carey Mulligan's pixie cut to Tom Ford's bow tie.

Vera Farmiga in Marchesa

This was my favorite look of the night. The volume of this fuchsia Marchesa dress looked flawless on Vera and seemed very current. We will be seeing more jewel tones on the runways this year which look particularly amazing on pale skin.

Diane Kruger in Chanel

I love the neckline of this black and cream Chanel. It's a timeless look that feels very fresh on Diane. The rosette details on the dress will also be huge trend for spring.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Dries Van Noten

Leave it to Maggie to make a simple strapless dress look like a serious fashion statement. I love navy watercolor detail on this Dries Van Noten dress. Navy was a huge trend at the Oscar's this year and is the perfect alternative for black.

Carey Mulligan in Prada

The talented and charming newcomer has been the talk of both movie and fashion critics since her premiere in the film, An Education. Amongst the sea of hair extensions and cleavage baring dresses, Mulligan's pixie cut and choice to wear a classic black Prada was refreshingly chic.

I was at work the day I heard of Alexander McQueen's death. The news was not so much shocking as it was simply tragic. It was no secret that Alexander was a troubled soul and seemed tortured by his talent.

At the time of it's creators death, the McQueen empire was at the peak of financial success, despite the ever shaky economy. Editors, celebrities and Lady Gaga alike were all fascinated by the fantasy world McQueen created with every piece he ever produced. It was the essence of extreme surrealism in his designs that kept the fashion world wanting a piece of the magic. However, not everyone would understand the world Alexander McQueen lived in, or the clothes he created.

It was common belief that Alexander was depressed and had been for quite some time. Most said it was his dark and "twisted" mind that influenced his outlandish ideas about how woman should dress. His clothes resembled armor and his studded platforms could be mistaken for weapons. McQueen's life was not pretty and neither was his work. Like so many other creative masterminds before him, he will be remembered as a leader in an industry that follows.

Style Copy Cat: Audrey Tautou

It's hard to find an actress who embodies class, individualism and talent these days. Leave it to the French to give us all of these characteristics in one petite package. Audrey Tautou has been one of my favorite actresses since I saw the film Amelie. Her style is effortless and her talent has caught the attention of movie lovers worldwide. Karl Lagerfeld loves Audrey so much that he choose her to star in the CHANEL No. 5 ad campaigns after she portrayed Madam Chanel herself in the Anne Fontaine film, Coco Before Chanel, last fall.

This Style Copy Cat replicates Audrey's look she sported while attending a Chanel party in Paris hosted by Karl Lagerfeld. Notice she is not wearing a pretentious cocktail dress, nor is she decked is diamonds. Audrey is simply showing off her small 5'3 frame in jeans and a fitted blazer. How very French!

10 Trends for 2010

2010 is here. While some of us are still recovering from New Year's Eve and procrastinating on any resolutions we made, I on the other hand am anxiously waiting to see what the new year has to bring. Here, I list the top 10 trends for 2010. I dare you to try at least one trend his year. It's just fashion after all.

ONE. Statement Shoes.

Alexander McQueen did it best. Think Lady Gaga's "Bag Romance" video. Wear them with anything from skinny ankle pants to cocktail dresses.

TWO. Bangs.

Kate Moss rocked the look last year and so can you. You may also want to google Zooey Deschanel for more inspiration.

THREE. Leopard Print.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, leopard print is always in. Just take a look at the editorials. I like to hunt in vintage stores for the perfect print.

FOUR. Stripes.

When Audrey Tautou portrayed Coco Chanel in the Film "Coco Before Chanel" earlier last year, there was a scene in which she wore a simple striped top. The next thing you know every editor from here to Paris were talking about stripes. Simple, yet oh so chic.

FIVE. Red Hair.

Red hair seems so right for 2010. It screams independence and makes ivory skin tones pop. Run, don't walk, to your nearest CVS and grab a box of Perfect 10 hair color. You can thank me for all the compliments later.

SIX. Peek-a-boo.

A little sex goes a long way when it comes to fashion. The "peek-a-boo" trend is a way to give them a little taste, but always leaving them wanting more. I love a silk top with a lace bra just peeking through the fabric.

SEVEN. The 90's comeback.

I know this may seem like a oxymoron, but the 90's are back for 2010. It's all about bold shoulders, body suits and great legs. It's time to embrace your inner Claudia Schiffer.

EIGHT. Braids.

Braids have been showing up everywhere from backstage at the latest runway shows to the red carpet. This look is particularly cool when the hair looks a little messy.

NINE. Fashionable Ink.

There is something about fashion and tattoos that work great together. For instance, model Freja Beha Erichsen has been photographed for countless covers and editorials while sporting over 11 tattoos. And Karl Lagerfeld was so inspired by this trend that he had faux double "C" tattoo's painted on models for a resent runway show.

TEN. One Shoulder Dresses.

This is one of my favorite looks this year and I often recommend the one shoulder dress to my clients. It shows off a woman's neck and shoulders which should always be celebrated.

John Fairchild once said, "Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Fashion is something that comes after style." Former Teen Vogue Senior Market Editor and reigning Accessories Director for Marie Claire, Taylor Tomasi, seems to embody the very essence Fairchild was referring to. The fiery redhead always looks impossibly chic and never seems to run out of fabulous outfits to keep us coming back for more. She has become known as a fashion darling in this industry for her uncanny ability to mix designer labels with classic pieces.

This Style Copy Cat is all about layers of stacked bangles, the perfect leather jacket, super high heeled boots and a box of Revlon red hair color. If you really want to embrace Taylor's style, try layering multiple watches on your wrists which has become her signature.

Miss Mae Getting Married

Two weeks ago my High school sweetheart proposed to me at the Santa Monica Pier. I can honesty say it was the most romantic day of my life as he set up the proposal by re-living our best dates. I have to admit that I had my wedding dress picked out a year prior to all this taking place and my sister and I had already decided on what color the bridesmaids would wear. But then again, look whose style blog your reading.

We are getting married August 7th, 2010 in Corona del Mar, California. This is a very special date for us as it is the same date as when my parents said there vows some 22 years earlier. As my fiance and I are both discovering, weddings are not simple productions. One must consider everything from how many quests to what type of undergarments to wear under one's wedding dress.

The day after he popped the questions, I took my newly engaged self to a local bookstore to stock up on bridal magazines. However, I found myself getting distracted by the latest addition of French VOGUE. How typical. My fashion eye was caught by an amazing editorial spread in the June 2009 addition of VOGUE named "The Wedding Party". In the photos, model Sasha Pivovarova was styled impeccably with her new husband and family.

I'm sure as the months go by and the date approaches I will have millions of photos and magazine clipping scattered about. Below are just a few ideas that serve as inspiration for me as a bride-to-be. As always, I hope this insight is helpful to all my readers and arouses new creativity in their lives.

While most of the country is just now running out to Bloomingdales to stock up on Ralf Lauren cable knit sweaters and Hermes riding boots, the fashion world has already moved on. The spring 2010 collections seemed to bring a welcome feeling of "new" we were all craving. Fall can quickly become a bit bleak with the backdrop of a bad economy behind it. Though it may have been pouring down rain during New York Fashion Week, you would never have known when looking at the parades of light and airy silhouettes and soft color palettes on the runways.

My favorite collections were constructed by a mix of major labels like Valentino, Miu Miu and Lanvin who never fail to offer the best of the best. Fresh talent like Christophe Decarnin for Balmain and Proenza Schouler also made my top five with edgy prints and inspirational styling.

Trends to expect will include everything from mini dresses to statement shoulders. Pay close attention to intriguing prints and don't underestimate the power of seemingly unnoticeable details. It's ok to wear leather in the summer as long as it is strategically paired with a few feathers here and there. Spring 2010 will be about experimentation and never taking yourself too seriously . . . finally.

The leading man, Daniel Day-Lewis, will be joined by such beauties as Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren and even Fergie.

Some woman feel the most sexy when wearing a little black dress or super high heels. While I would never argue the sex appeal of a LBD or the lure of a stiletto, today it seems a bit more modern to mix things up. To me, the structured blazer is one of the most seducing pieces a woman can wear. One can throw it over anything and suddenly feel undeniably chic and incredibly sexy.

In the bubble that is Orange County I always like to think that wearing a blazer brings me a little closer to the New York state of mind. I try to avoid the ever popular "the more skin the better" mentality like the Plague. I admire the kind of gal that can rock a mini skirt and killer shoes, while looking effortlessly pulled together with a thigh grazing suit jacket. What's hotter than that?

Today the blazer in no longer appropriate in the workplace only, but everywhere. You can often spot Ashley Olsen sporting the look with jeans and a silk tee. Chloe Sevigny looks super amazing when she does the oversized blazer with jean short shorts. Anyway you rock it, the blazer always demands attention, authority and allure.

When I was growing up, my Grandma would always tell me, "We carry our lives in our handbags". That phrase has always held a sort of fascination for me. Maybe that is why I own more purses then I do clothes.

When I style, I always advise my clients to invest in an amazing bag that will outlast any trend.

Every season we see new and fresh variations of the classics. This fall it's about bold hues, wild prints, fun textures, tough hardware and the return of the shoulder bag. Make sure you choose a look that fits your lifestyle and frame. If you're a petite flower, you don't want to look like you're hauling around a suitcase everyday. And there is something quite magical about walking into Christian Louboutin to gush over the array of gorgeous shoes. How to Wear: All That Glitters

Adding a little sparkle to your life (or at least your closet) is easier than you might think. Details such as sequins or metallic are a great way to make your look more modern. However, you don't want to resemble a Christmas tree or a member from the cast of Dynasty. Here are a few simple ideas to embrace the sparkle and shine trend.

Start with simple with accessories: If you want to add a bit of visual interest to your look, try pairing some statement-making shoes with great fitting jeans and a structured blazer. Or play with art deco inspired headbands to give your locks a little pizzazz.

I'd like to invite you to enjoy my first ever "blog interview". I am so happy to have stumbled upon Apricot Tea. The site's author, Ev'Yan, is a budding fashion/lifestyle blogger who is part Carrie Bradshaw, part the best friend you never had. 1. Introduce yourself. Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Ev'Yan, & I live near Los Angeles, CA. I am a freelance writer, dedicating most of my time to my personal blog (apricot-tea.com) & my advice blog (askapricot.com), as well as helping my husband with his online business. When I'm not doing those things I love to paint, make jewelry, watch Hitchcock films, & play old school Nintendo video games.

2. Your blog name is so adorable! What does "Apricot Tea" mean?
Thank you! I came up with the idea from hearing the song "Apricot Tea" by The Robot Ate Me. My sister introduced me to the song, & I fell in love with it. My sister is nicknamed "tangerine" (from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), so I adopted the alias "apricot" so that we could be "fruit sisters" in a sense. It was cute & it's stuck with me ever since. When I decided to start blogging, the title "apricot tea" was the first thing that popped into my mind, & I kept it.

3. When did you start blogging and why?

   I've been blogging since before "blog" was a household name. My very first blog was started in early 2003, & it basically just documented my high school days, & personal relationships. (It was really dramatic & I'd be so embarrassed if anyone found it today.) I stopped blogging after a bad break-up, but kept writing in paper diaries. It wasn't until I saw how much cooler blogs could be that I started to want to do it again, just differently & with more personality. & Apricot Tea was born! It started out as being my own personal space on the internet, documenting my journey through my blossoming relationship in LA, while trying to find my niche in life. I never expected to gain readership, nor did I expect to take a "fashion" approach with my blog. The fashion thing was just an idea I came up with one day, when I was unemployed & bored. Since then, I've been hooked.

4. You always look so chic and put together in your pictures. How would you best describe your look?
   My style is always changing, especially as of lately. In the beginning, I dressed very girly. I wore a lot of dresses, a lot of whimsical prints, & light colors. If you look back at my older entries, you'll see what I mean. These days, though, I've been more into greys, blacks, & whites, & minimalistic styles. I like to mix feminine with masculine here & there, creating interesting silhouettes & such. I would describe my style as minimalistic, slightly androgynous, comfortable, laid-back, with my own unique flair to it. But I'm sure that description will change in a few months. I'm always experimenting.

5. What is your fashion staple?
   A good pair of sandals. I've been known to wear sandals in the pouring rain. I just feel very comfortable barefoot, & wearing sandals are about as close as it gets.

6. I must say, I love your hair. Who does it?
   Thanks! I do my hair, believe it or not. I cut, style & color it myself. It helps a lot that I have a license in Cosmetology, otherwise I wouldn't know a thing about hair! It also helps that my hair is so short; I don't have to much with it.

7. Your blog is about so much more than fashion. It is also about your relationship with your husband, your must-have beauty products, and your love for writing. Tell us how you try to set yourself apart from the millions of other "fashion bloggers"?

   I always try to remind myself just why I have a blog in the first place, & it has always been to express myself & show the world who I am. I love a lot of things, & I want to let people get a glimpse of my world, in every aspect. I don't think I could ever just have my blog be devoted to one topic, because I'm passionate about so many things. & because of that, I really try not to call myself one thing, like a fashion blogger, for instance. Not just because I don't feel I am one, but because I'm truly not into fashion as some would think. I don't follow the who's-who in the industry, I don't like big name brands, I hate wearing heels & reading fashion magazines. I just like to express myself through the clothing that I wear. Fashion is just a small tip on a very big iceberg, for me.

8. You also just started an advice site "Ask Apricot". It seems to be very successful so far. Tell us more about the site.
   Ask Apricot is my budding advice column. It's where people can submit advice about love, beauty, fashion, life, or whatever else they're having trouble with, & I'll do my best to give them guidance. Simple as that. It's been a great experience for me so far. I'm really passionate about the site; probably more than I am about Apricot Tea! But only a little bit. Apricot Tea will always be my first love.

9. You tend to get a lot of questions concerning your marriage. What is your response to people curious about your decision to marry young?
   When people ask me about it, I tell them the truth! Which is that I met & fell in love with my very best friend. To dumb down my feelings for him because we were seemingly "too young" would have been so silly! It was definitely a decision I made with my heart. If I would have made it with my head, we certainly wouldn't have gotten married; we may have not even been together! I don't regret my decision to get married as young as I did. To me, age doesn't matter. I often feel older than I am, anyway. I think one reason people are so curious is because they would never, ever get married as young as I did... & that's okay. It's certainly not for everyone.

10. What does your husband do?
   Jonathan (my husband) is a kick ass, unconventional personal development blogger at his blog, illuminatedmind.net. He is a life-coach, a writer, & a graphic designer. He is also a weekly contributer at zenhabits.net, which is one of the top self-improvement blogs on the internet. He's so passionate about what he does, which is helping people & bringing them peace with words of wisdom. Truthfully, seeing his dedication to making a difference in other people's lives helped me make the decision to be an advice columnist. He's very inspirational to me.

11. What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?

   I always hate answering this question, because I just know I'll disappoint people with my answer. But honestly, I try not to think about what my life would be like in 5 years, or 5 days, or 5 minutes. I'm really trying to practice living in the moment, & stayed mindful in the present. Thinking about the future causes us to worry & be fearful, because we feel like it's out of our control. By looking at right now being the only time there is, I feel so much more at peace. Boring answer, I know, but it's the truth!

12. Who are some of your fashion/style inspirations?
   I am very moved by music. Portishead, Air, Radiohead, Beck, Third Eye Blind, Mogwai, & Dntel influence my styles a great deal. Also, I love Zoe Kravitz. Her style is effortless & so casual.

13. I think it's great that your readers feel comfortable asking you some very personal questions. When did you first realize you wanted to start a site dedicated to helping others solve their problems/concerns?
   I've always had a passion for giving people advice. In high school, I was the one people would go to for advice & guidance, & often times, their problems surpassed my experience, but I was able to offer them comfort & a listening ear. I've been fascinated with the advice sections in magazines & in newspapers for as long as I could remember, & at one point, I dreamed of being an advice columnist. Several months ago, Jonathan & I were talking about what I felt my purpose in life was, & I blurted out how I wished I could give people advice & be a listening ear to those who needed it. We started talking about the idea of making a blog into it, & here I am now... doing what I've always wanted to do but never had the opportunity because people didn't know who I was. & now they do, & I'm so grateful.

14. And last, but not least, tell me a little about your tattoos.
   The first tattoo I ever got was of a dragonfly, & it's right on my inner hip. It was done very amateurly, so I don't brag about that one too much. But it's very sentimental to me. I got it when I turned 18, to prove that I had the balls to put something permanent on my body. The second tattoo I got is on my inner right wrist, which says the word "breathe" in Sanskrit. It's a great reminder to me, because sometimes I forget to breathe. Breathing is the easiest way to gain clarity & peace in any situation. So I wanted to always remember that, & what better way than to put it on my wrist. & my third tattoo -- which was done about a month ago -- is an ampersand (the '&') on the back of my neck. I got it because not only do I have this thing with ampersands, but I use it a lot in my writing. I got it as sort of a symbol to the writer in me.

Oh, and one more. . .

15. What advice would you give to other bloggers?
Be yourself. Do your own thing. Follow your heart & stay true to it. But most importantly, network with other bloggers. It's easy to think that if you're a good enough blogger, people will find you automatically, but that's not often the case. So introduce yourself to some of your favorite bloggers; write them an email & tell them how much you admire their work. A little introduction can go a long way & create friendships for a lifetime. & don't get discouraged if you're not getting enough traffic. Stay diligent, continue to be friendly to other bloggers, & I promise, things will go your way. Just be patient, & have fun with it!

Listen Lovelies,

You must walk, no run, to your nearest Lancome counter (preferably the one at the South Coast Saks for those in California). When you arrive you must pick up La Laque Fever Ultimate Lasting Lipshine. I kinda went on mini shopping spree at Saks and picked up this long lasting gloss in Electric Pink along with a few other "must-haves" and fell in love. The color is not for wall flowers, it's a bright, glittery, "Look at me!" shade. Yet somehow, it looks good on everyone. Long story short, it's HOT.

There are few things that make me happier than lingerie. However, I suppose Manolo's and chocolate come a close 2nd. I have to admit I have a bit of an addiction when it comes to everything lacy and racy. Great lingerie is like a sexy secret only you as a woman know. You may be wearing a buttoned up business suit and have your hair pinned back, but underneath the "everyday" lies silk stockings and a lace bra.

It is a common American misconception that woman should wear lingerie for special occasions to please the men in their lives. Our chic French counterparts would disagree with us wholeheartedly stating that a woman should wear great undergarments everyday and for her own pleasure. This is a philosophy I have admired and adapted into my own style. One should wear lingerie for herself and not for the benefit or excitement of a man. This is the kind of woman who knows her own feminine power and dresses to please one person, herself.

Spring is the season for new beginnings and fresh looks. That's why I want my next haircut to be shorter, more. . . "Parisian chic". I have no attachment to "longer" hair and love to change it up. The hard part is being able to convince my boyfriend to warm up to the idea. Why are men so set in their ways when it comes to a woman's hair? Alas, I will never understand the male mind.
