Recycling Gets a Makeover at Origins

In honor of Earth Month, I will be doing a series of postings dedicated to brands or products that are making the world a better place to live. I will be showing you how to make your life a little bit "greener" by featuring articles about eco-friendly beauty, fashion, home and cuisine.

To kick off the series I thought I might start with a company who was "green" before it was even chic. Since 1990, Origins Natural Resources has been dedicated to making the best earth friendly cosmetics on the market. Origins specializes in the use of natural essential oils, organic ingredients, and potent plant extracts. The brand is always looking for new ways to give back to the earth that has given them the inspiration to create their wonderful products.

This month, Origins has created the first cosmetic recycling program in the industry. Customers can now bring their empty cosmetic tubes, bottles and jars to any Origins retail store or department store counter to be recycled. This includes any cosmetic brand. The products don't even have to be from Origins!  The company will then send off the goods to either be recycled or converted into energy.

PLUS: receive a FREE Origins sample when you drop off your products! How's that for a beautiful trade?

Allure magazine teamed up with Origins CEO Jane Lauder this past week to celebrate the "Return to Origins" launch. Here she is wth Allure editor in chief Linda Wells on CBS news:

  1. Thanks so much for your lovely comment! This post is really cool. I'm glad to hear that Origins is doing this. I always felt bad throwing away my empty cosmetic bottles. Look forward to seeing more of your blog!
